Description
Wide dynamic range and greater creativity.
The FX3 offers an exceptional dynamic range of more than 15 stops for well-lit interiors and outdoors in the morning or evening. It captures every nuance and achieves unprecedented cinematic freedom in color grading.
Great bokeh and full-frame creativity.
Capture any scene in 4K resolution thanks to the shallow depth of field, stunning bokeh and cinematographic freedom of the full-frame sensor.
Cinema Chromatic Science with S-Cinetone™.
S-Cinetone color, developed for Sony’s acclaimed FX9, is the FX3’s default option for cinematic expressiveness. It is precisely calibrated to meet the requirements of today’s content creators with rich colors and natural skin tones comparable to those of grade-free Cinema Line cameras.
4K 120 fps with every frame in focus.
Even at high frame rates, it is possible to capture 4K images thanks to the FX3’s high-speed readout capabilities and high-precision AF. S&Q (fast and slow motion) mode gives you full control over the frame rate for engaging slow motion sequences up to 5x (with 24p output).
S-Log3 recording and 10-bit HDR to smooth gradation.
The S-Log3 and S-Gamut3.Cine gamma curve allow you to capture a wide dynamic range with great color reproduction and easily combine footage captured with other Cinema Line cameras in post-production. Additionally, an HDR picture profile with HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) enables direct HDR (HLG) playback on compatible TVs without post-production.
16-bit HDMI RAW output.
For demanding post-production tasks, 16-bit RAW output is offered with HDMI connection to compatible external recorders, while capturing XAVC HS 4K, XAVC S 4K, XAVC S-I 4K or proxy files in-camera. The resolution of RAW video output is 4264 x 2408 [16:9], higher than DCI-4K4.
Enjoy a great level of detail and realistic colors.
The FX3 features 4K internal recording, 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 color sampling using All-Intra compression in addition to Long GOP. This improves color gradations while preserving natural gradation, for complete editing freedom.
Focal length variation compensation.
By activating focal length shift compensation, the camera allows you to record more stable videos when using compatible lenses. This setting is available in software version 3.00 or later.
Precise and reliable autofocus.
Wide-area AF with intelligent tracking uses in-focal plane phase detection to track your subject across most of the frame. The fast hybrid autofocus system delivers precise focusing even at shallow depths of field and at 120p in 4K (QFHD).
Tracking AF for stable focus.
Sophisticated tracking features keep your subject in focus so you can focus on composition. Enjoy precise focusing with Eye AF and tracking functions thanks to Sony’s AI-based subject recognition algorithm.
Smooth transitions and touch focus.
The FX3 includes 7 AF transition speed settings for easy selective focusing and 5 AF subject shift sensitivity settings to easily customize AF behavior with your locked subject. You can also select the subject you want to focus on by simply touching the LCD monitor.
Advantages of Sony lenses for video recording.
Discover the four unique benefits of Sony E-mount lenses for video recording. The combination of Sony lenses and cameras will enhance your experience when creating videos.
Great performance and mobility anywhere.
Thanks to its compact and lightweight design, the FX3 offers great mobility. The attached handle and frameless accessory mounting holes allow for quick, fluid handling. The main body and covers have been constructed from lightweight magnesium alloy to improve performance and durability in demanding environments.
Adjustable XLR handle.
A handle with an adapter and two full-size XLR terminals can be connected to the camera’s Multi Interface (MI) shoe for stable use and operation in difficult shooting situations such as low-level shooting.
Integrated image stabilization.
Active Mode offers a built-in five-axis optical image stabilization system that improves stability in video capture. To maintain image quality, the gyroscope sensor measures vibration and compensates for it optically. This allows you to record stable videos without a tripod or a gimbal, while walking and at 4K resolution.
Image stabilization and simplified editing with Catalyst.
The built-in gyroscope records camera shake metadata to smooth and stabilize handheld footage in post-production. Thanks to Sony’s Catalyst Browse or Catalyst Prepare desktop apps, you can adjust compensation and cropping automatically. Catalyst can also use camera rotation data.
4K/60p recording without interruptions.
For seamless 4K 60p recording, the FX3 features an innovative heat dissipation system. The heatsinks, airflow structure and silent fan ensure good cooling at all times.
Digital input and XLR adapter for quality audio.
In addition to the on-camera microphone, other professional models can be connected to the handle’s full-size XLR connectors thanks to a digital audio interface with a multi-interface (MI) shoe. Three recording formats can be chosen, including 4 channels of 24 bits. Digital audio recording is also possible by adjusting a digital microphone such as the ECM-B1M even when the handle is not used.
Two high-speed multimedia slots.
Designed to next-generation requirements, CFexpress Type A cards support high bit rate recording. The camera slots accept CFexpress Type A or SDXC UHS-I/UHS-II cards, and are identical, allowing for streaming or backup capture.
Wireless monitoring and remote control.
By connecting a smartphone or tablet to the camera with the Monitor & Control app, you can monitor everything wirelessly, adjust exposure with high precision and control focus on a larger screen.
Preview, capture and stream remotely.
Wired or wireless remote capture is possible on a PC or mobile device with Imaging Edge Mobile, for efficient capture and workflows in demanding environments. Imaging Edge Webcam™ enables online video communication with high image quality.
